May 16, 2014 SINCERE GENTLENESS
We all know people who are fake. They pretend to be someone they are not sometimes to get what they want. They pretend to care but their actions show otherwise. They pretend to be gentle when their thoughts are not. It eventually comes out through their words and actions that their gentleness with us and others was not sincere. We are called to be sincere and true in our actions and words. And that means in our gentleness with others as well.
2 Corinthians 6:6 “We prove ourselves by our purity, our understanding, our patience, our kindness, by the Holy Spirit within us, and by our sincere love.” (NLT)
Dear Lord, help us to show sincere gentleness to others. We know there are times when we don’t feel like it. We know there are times when we are selfish. We know there are times when we would rather do what we want. Help us, Lord, to be people who genuinely care about others and who are sincerely gentle in our dealings with others. Show us Your way, Lord. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
When we are sincerely gentle with others, they can see Jesus in us.
Showing sincere gentleness to others will help them see our love for them.
When we are sincerely gentle with others, we can better witness to them.
We are called to be sincere in our actions and gentle in our words.
Showing sincere gentleness to others requires wisdom from God.
James 3:17 “But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere.” (NLT)
Focus: Ask God to help you be sincere when helping others.
