A Good Time Was Had By All

Sunday, June 01, 2014

Today we celebrated the birthdays of our two Grand-daughters. Nola turned 2 on May 21st. and Elizabeth turned 7 on May 31st.. We had the party at our oldest son's home. Our DIL's parents were also there. They are from several miles away and actually arrived on Friday night. The woman who has been their Day-Care person since Elizabeth was born and her husband were also there, plus my Mom and their next-door neighbor. We had a picnic lunch and were then driven inside by rain. We have actually had storms all day today and they are still in the area. I can hear thunder in the distance as I write this. The party was fun and was a good way to end the celebration of the birthdays. I say end, because the celebration actually started on Saturday. Elizabeth and a classmate, Emma, had a joint party at Emma's house. She lives in the country and they have an outdoor volleyball court, a pond, and lots of space to run. There were 15 classmates at the party from 3-5 PM and then if their parents wanted to, they could stay for a picnic supper and a campfire after. We arrived at the party at noon to help set up and didn't leave for home until 9PM. I was EXHAUSTED!!!!! There is NOTHING like the energy of 15 7 year-olds!!!!! Today's slower pace was welcome. Elizabeth and I were talking about birthday parties, and she told me that she had been to one on Friday (YES........this Friday) where a LIMO picked up the kids at school and drove them to the local roller rink. When they were finished skating, the LIMO picked them up again and took them to the Birthday Girl's home, where they had supper and watched the movie FROZEN. The kids are 7!!!!! What do you think of a LIMO for the birthday party of a 7 year-old? I know that I am OLD, but Seriously???????
After 3 days of partying, I am sure that Elizabeth will sleep tonight.
I hope your weekend was more relaxing than mine........

What a busy weekend you had and Happy Birthday to all, mine was on Friday so I share in the celebration (albeit vicariously) but a limo for a kids 7th birthday party? I turned 51 and have never dreamed of that happening for any of my kids or myself! Now for a special occasion like a prom or wedding, that would be different. So I'm with you on that one Patti emoticon

What a wonderful birthday your grands had!!! And a limo at 7... what will they do for senior prom or their weddings??? No, I think that is a little pretentious for 7 year olds. Just my opinion... but since you asked... emoticon

    Patti,

It sounds like you had a WONDERFUL time at your grand daughters birthday! You even had fun with the adults, also! I know how much I enjoy my grand niece and grand nephews birthday and Christmas. Kids are such a joy to watch, no matter what the age, because, let's face it, THEYRE JUST SO CUTE AND ADORABLE!!

    Be blessed,

OMG! When I grew up it was just simple ice cream and cake! What can I say. My eldest is 22 and birthday parties were getting out of hand even back then!

But it sounds like a wonderful time was had.

I'm with you... if there is a limo when the child is 7, what will they want at16... Or 21? Some parents push their kids to grow up way too fast. Let them enjoy being 7,
