More, But Only a Little at a Time

Tuesday, June 24, 2014

The book I've started reading, "The Lean: A Revolutionary (and Simple!) 30-Day Plan for Healthy, Lasting Weight Loss," is geared a bit toward veganism, but can be used by meat eaters, too. I like the idea of 30 days of making 30 gentle changes to improve your eating habits. Even if I don't get any new insights into how to get healthier, it is giving me mental reinforcement of the steps necessary. That's good. That helps me stay conscious of what I'm doing. It helps, also, that it's an audio-book. I'm getting the information through another sense than just sight, and I can relax and almost mediate on what's being said.

I sat on the floor yesterday with my legs crossed in front of me, not a true lotus posture, but as close as I could get. It was hard at first but then I relaxed into it. Today my hips aren't as tight and I wasn't hurting when I got as far as the park so maybe I've found the stretch I've been needing. I was able to walk an extra 10 minutes this morning without aching.

Where I'm really having a problem is food, being hungry too soon after I've eaten a meal. I just finished eating lunch early. I really needed to go to the store and get a few more ingredients but was so hungry I made up my "Italian chicken over rice" (left over spaghetti sauce with chicken breast, celery, and onions over short grained brown rice) without the peas and zucchini I'd wanted to add to it. Part of this is the increase in exercise without an increase in calorie allotment, but that's necessary to losing the weight. There has to be an answer to this beyond what I'm already doing.

Losing this weight is not just one problem to solve, but many interconnected ones that can't be solved directly, one after another. Each needs to be tweaked and then tweaked again and again as things change and evolve.
