I Am More Than Just A Little Bit Nervous.......

Monday, July 14, 2014

This morning, while getting ready to go to the funeral of a dear friend's mother, I tilted my head back to put eye drops in my very itchy eyes, when I had a momentary feeling of Vertigo.
For those of you who do not know what Vertigo is, the definition from webmd.com is:
a feeling that you or your surroundings are moving when there is no actual movement. You may feel as though you are off balance, spinning, whirling, falling, or tilting. When you have severe vertigo, you may feel very nauseated or vomit. You may have trouble walking or standing, and you may lose your balance and fall.
I had a bout with Vertigo in the summer of 2010. On advice from my DIL, who is an Occupational Therapist, I went to a Physical Therapist, who treated me for several sessions before I was finally free of it. My understanding (from the PT) was that there are crystals in our ear canal, which, when lined up correctly keep us balanced. She said that ALL of mine were out of position in BOTH ears. She had NEVER seen anything like it!!! After several treatments, she actually started crying because she couldn't help me. She called in another PT, who had actually had Vertigo herself and had self-treated over the years. She helped me in one treatment.
It is now 4 years later and I have hoped and prayed to NEVER have Vertigo again. It is the most OUT-OF-CONTROL FEELING ever and I don't want it to visit me EVER AGAIN!!! The experience this morning has me extremely nervous!!!!! Please send many good wishes my way that I will NEVER have Vertigo again.

I had a spell of that earlier this year and yes it's the most unpleasant and concerning of conditions.
I hope you'll be okay, I would not wish it on my worst enemy.

I've never had vertigo, but my daughter and her best friend have both had it (actually her friend is still having problems with it). I heard that it's very uncomfortable. I hope it goes away soon. How did the PT help make it go away in one session?

    Patricia,

I know and understand all to well the affects of vertigo, as I had a horrid case of it, where it seemed like every waking moment, I was spinning out of control, being disoriented, wondering where I was and what was going on, and it gave me a sensation of what am I suppose to do to keep myself from falling. I was in free fall, yet not, and the feeling just overwhelmed me and I didn't like the fact that I wasn't able to control the situation, and I was at it's mercy. When I lost my weight, my vertigo went away, and I haven't had vertigo in 4 years now.

Right now, in the name of Jesus Christ, I banish the devil and all of his imps, and command that they be thrown as far as the east is from the west. You have no right to touch a child of the Anointed One! Satan, I command you to stop, cease, desist, and loose your grip of this daughter of the Almighty One! Greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world.
By speaking God's word, you MUST FLEE, as God has greater plans for His daughter. In Jesus' matchless and mighty name! AMEN!!! emoticon

I so agree with you Patti, it is the most out of control feeling. For me in felt like I was out in the ozone all the time. I had blurred vision, dizziness, nausea, off balance, feeling like people were far away from me and they were standing right in front of me. My doctor did say it was vertigo, but that it was being caused by something else. He ordered a CT scan of my brain and I had a sinus infection. He had checked me in his office for that but no symptoms presented. It was impacted. Got an antibiotic and it all cleared up. Every now and then I get mild vertigo, but nothing like I had before.

I sure do hope you are not getting it again. Try not to bend over or put your head back. If you need eye drops maybe lay back and have your husband put them in for you. Just a thought.

    Take care,

    Ginna

HUGS! I hope this resolves itself quickly. It is an uncomfortable feeling to be sure.
