nutritionist

Wednesday, August 27, 2014

I went to meet with a nutritionist on Wednesday last week. She took me off counting calories and onto counting carbs/proteins/fat. It is almost like a diabetic diet. I am on day 3 and so far so good. Although it does take me a while to figure everything out. Monday I may have had a meltdown when it took me 40 minutes to plan all my meals for Tuesday. It will get easier!

Yeah, definitely stressful to try to pre-plan so much, when you first get started. I try to make it easier on myself by pre-prepping a lot of things and portioning them out into freezer bags about once a month.

I kinda count macros, but, mostly calories, so having the main component already in my recent list makes it easy to slap together today's menu and see what else I can slide in apart from my usual (cheese in my omelette, a couple crushed up cookies in my post run shake, a bit of pasta mixed into my dinner, or a b33r or two after the kids go to bed).

It will definitely get easier. I had gestational diabetes while I was pregnant with both of my kids, and it wasn't bad at all once you got the hang of things. Hang in there!
