The Weekend Challenge

Saturday, August 30, 2014

Originally, I thought my weekdays would be my greatest challenge. After all, those are the workdays when I have the least control over most of my time - time to work out, time to plan and cook a meal. But what I'm finding is that those days are actually some where I have the most control and ability to plan. After all, much of those days is governed by a work calendar.

A calendar on the weekend is harder, because it involves others that don't want a "planned day". They (and frankly me too) want the relaxed spontaneity that comes with a day off. That has been a bigger challenge than expected.

I'm working on some planning - finding that compromise of freedom and structure - but still have a ways to go.

I need to do more planning myself. Like when I need to mow the yard to my dad's doctor's appointments. Like I just mowed last night and looks like I need to do it either tomorrow or Wednesday. We got a lot of rain last night long after I mowed and trimmed. Our yard doesn't look like I even mowed it. You can't see the tracks where the mower was at.
