Day #1 Riding The Bike
Friday, September 05, 2014
There were many positive changes made at the Y during my 6 weeks hiatus. Many rooms have been painted, pictures of local places, landscaping and general information have been carefully displayed on the walls. This gives the gym a warmer and less institutional look. I am liking these new changes!
My task today was to ride the stationary bike at a moderate level for 30 minutes plus a 5 minute warm up and 5 minute cool down. I paid special attention to stretching out my legs after I completed my workout. This is it make sure that my Achilles' tendon was stretched and strengthened by the process and not damaged.
The ride initially felt fairly easy to me. My instructions from the doctor were to make the ride an easy one, until I start to get my strength back. I also drank from a bottle of water as I exercised which kept my mouth from getting too dry.
I didn't work up much iof a sweat, so I stopped at the store on my way home to purchase some fresh produce. I slowly walked up and down all if the isles just to squeeze in a few extra steps. By the time I paid for my groceries and got back into my car, I was exhausted. I went home, showered and dressed, ate a light lunch and went to bed for a couple of hours. Later I got up and attended a family birthday dinner. I just about slept all the way home mad went right to be. I think I have a lot of work to do to get my stamina built back. I know that I am up,to the task!
