Being Real and Treadmill Dilemma Solved

Wednesday, September 17, 2014

So today was the first week weigh in for the Biggest Loser Fall Fitness Frenzy Challenge. emoticon And how did I do? How much did I lose? Zip - Zero - Nada. In fact I actually gained 2 pounds. emoticon

So how did this happen?

Let's see:

I caught my husband's bug last week and was sick for about three days

For those three days, I was pretty much a slug (I did get a lot of sleep though) Sure, I know that it's ok not to exercise sometimes when you're sick. It's important to listen to your body. But quite honestly, I could have moved more than I did.

And I ate comfort food. And sick or no, my food choices were exactly that - choices. I didn't have to go over my calorie range, but I did.

Then last night, I met some friends at a local Mexican restaurant. I made decent choices, but I could have made better choices to have a better weigh in.

It is what it is. Nothing or no one is to blame but me. I am responsible for my own actions and my own choices. I'm not saying that as a condemnation of me. It's just reality.

My team has been wonderful - so encouraging and supportive. I love the Purple Passionettes! And I plan to do them proud this week. And to do myself proud.

Yep, that pretty much sums up how I feel right now. emoticon

On another note, I've been walking on the treadmill at Planet Fitness for my cardio. emoticon I walk between 30 and 45 minutes and I'm becoming bored just walking in place, listening to music. They have TV's there that you can watch, but I don't really like to do that when I'm working out....I need music with a strong beat. (Plus I'm not coordinated enough to look up that high on the treadmill.....I become a little trippy). And I don't want to read a book, because I think I would walk slower if I did.

But I think I came up with a great solution! emoticon

I've been collecting a lot of the motivational sayings, like the one above, from SparkPeople and Sparkblogs. And last night I made them into a movie and I interspersed some beautiful pictures into it as well. I watched it today while on the treadmill, with my music pumping in my ears and it worked out perfectly!!! The time passed by much quicker. I'm going to add to it and tweak it a bit, but for me, it's a great solution for giving my eyes something to do while I'm working out. I can still concentrate on my form and my speed, but I'm planting positive ideas in my brain.

So that's my day in a nutshell...
...disappointing but not surprising weigh in
...determined to do better starting today
...happy treadmill walker

So if you had some type of disappointment or setback today. Just remember...DON'T GIVE UP. You have what it takes to be successful.

McJoyful, I am seriously so proud of you right now.
And I agree with RobbieMarie, every time I eat restaurant food my weight goes up the next day by a pound or so. It's the salt.
I LOVE your video idea!! If at some point, you need variety, try a different machine, maybe. In any case, love what you do. If you're not lovin' the treadmill, find something you enjoy.
I am among a throng of people who are behind you - who will encourage you to not give up. Stay steady. Stay strong.

Just a suggestion but if they have elliptical trainers there wouldn't that be a good substitute for your cardio? It would be different anyway! Your idea is great though!

You're doing great! The most important thing is that you're not beating yourself up and you're pressing on.

I also get bored on the treadmill, so I have my mp3 player with my own upbeat music, and I bring my tablet and read a book on the Kindle app. I have it on a pretty large font so I can easily read it, and start walking. I have started going a bit slower on the treadmill than I usually do, but I'm increasing the incline so that it's a harder workout.

I'm not that into a lot of the music that's played at PF, which is why my own mix works for me. It's all songs that I like.

The movie you've made is a great idea!!!

Joy - not disappointing - I am reading in this blog all the knowledge that you gained and you punched holes in every one of what you consider to be a down fall in your journey - emoticon
Everyone fluctuates - sometimes I wake in the morning and I am 7 lbs. emoticon heavier than the last weigh in but clothes fit the same .
Very creative idea on the movies emoticon - Karen

Wow! I love your video inspiration idea. So creative. Bet ya anything the 2 pounds you put on were from the salt in the Mexican food at the restaurant right before weigh in. They put so much salt in everything in restaurants and I know I'm always bloated after eating out. (Just a thought.) Whatever it was....... no big deal. You definitely have the right headset to get beyond it. emoticon

Great idea for the treadmill workout and even better recovery from a disappointing number on the scale. No one goes down in a straight line -- our bodies wouldn't allow it even if our will was 100% on board. The important thing is to keep going and let the miracle happen!

I know it can for you!
