Thrift shopping, BAM!

Recently, one of my amazing Spark friends (shout out to TIKITAMI!) has posted some funny and poignant blogs about the fit of her clothes. I can relate. It is a great reminder to measure my progress by means other than the scale.
Clothes I was wearing at the beginning of the year are comically over-sized now. I have other clothes that I have been hanging on to for years (because they were too darn cute to give away, even though they were too small)... that are now dangerously close to being too big. It is great to SLIM OUT of my clothes...one of my goals is to wear whatever I want...
But FINANCING this goal is almost as big a challenge as losing the weight!
Solution - Thrift shopping.
20 years ago, my friends would drag me along to go thrift shopping on Melrose Blvd. in L.A...but I was just company for the trip...because nothing in there fit me. Last Sunday, I was the one dragging my family to the thrift store, and voila - three pants, three sweaters and a pair of boots for under $45. (and bringing my size 24 suit to donate got me a 20% discount coupon!)
As I pulled on my "new" size 16 pants this morning, I had to congratulate myself. Even if the scale is static, I am making progress. Size 16! Size 16! Size 16! And as I continue to make progress, I won't have to break the bank to avoid looking clownish. These pants cost $4.99. YAY!
