A Visual Reward
Thursday, October 09, 2014
Since yesterday's blog was a bit long, I will keep today's nice and short.
I like to have a visual measure of my progress on my weight loss journey. In past weight loss attempts I've done a variety of things:
- paperclip strings for each pound to go and then take them off and make a new string as I lose the weight
- buy a silk flower for every 10 pounds with the idea of ending up with a beautiful arrangement by the time I reach my goal (I didn't make it very far)
- moving pretty pebbles from one jar to another
- a chart that I'd color in with each weight loss (kind of like you see when people are trying to raise a certain amount of money)
But this time, I decided to create a visual reward that was motivating and free. Here it is:
You may not be able to see them, but there are dots all around the picture that will eventually be covered with stars. I have a diecut machine and I made stickers for each 5lbs that I lose along the way. There are actually a couple more dots and stars than my goal weight, but that's just in case once I get down there I want to keep going lower. Who knows? I've never been there before.
What about you? Do you have a visual reward system that you are using?
