I have achieved something I never expected...

I expected to see numbers dropping - on the scale, on the measuring tape...

I expected to adopt new habits - drinking enough water, making exercise a priority...

I even expected to struggle, and hit plateaus...

What I did not expect was that in the midst of this EPIC plateau (months now...) that I would honestly rate my self-esteem at its highest level yet.

I FEEL GOOD. That scale is definitely NOT reflecting my progress right now. I am grateful for the "Self-Esteem-o-Meter" that I check in with each day, because it has yielded much more substantial feedback.

Yesterday it said to me:

"It's okay not to worry about what the scale says you've accomplished...just LOOK DOWN. Girl, your pants are WAY too big! You might not want to admit it, but they are FALLING OFF. Go ahead and get rid of those things. You don't have to hide behind those anymore. You look great."

And without responding with a bunch of "yes, but..." statements like "yes, but the scale says... Or yes, but I still have so far to go...Or even, yes but, these used to be too small..." I simply said to myself, "That is true. Good for you, Erin!"

And then I got rid of those pants.

And just for good is my goofy little gang. They help pump up my self-esteem everyday!

That's the best feeling! To get rid of something that is now falling off that was once too small. One day, the new pants you buy will be falling off too and your self esteem will even be higher! Keep at it girl! I love the pic...classic...LOVE IT! Great Job! emoticon

I've read a lot about the difficulties of maintaining weight loss. It is incredibly difficult to do. It is depressing, but almost everyone regains the weight they lose. You have lost a lot of weight so far. Every day you are on your plateau, you are making the amazing accomplishment of not regaining the weight that you've lost. The scale will go down again, but the hard work you are putting in now has its own reward. And it's something to celebrate.
