October 19, 2014 WHAT BELIEVERS DO
When the first churches emerged and the first believers got together, they did what God called them to do. They did it because they wanted to do it. They did it because of the love and devotion they had for God. They didn’t stay home because they felt bad. They didn’t choose to lay in bed all day. No, there weren’t the distractions of television or computers back then but there were just as many temptations. Yet, they chose to worship together every day. Every day. That is what believers do. Do you worship every day?
Acts 2:44-47 “And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need. They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.” (NLT)
Dear Lord, we come to You today asking You to reveal in our lives what we need to give up. We know we don’t spend enough time with You. We know we don’t worship You enough. We know we aren’t as devoted to You as we should be. Empty us today of all wrong, and fill us with what is right and good. Give us the desire to share what we have, meet together and praise You. And, Lord, show us opportunities today to make disciples as You have called us to do. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Believers want to read God’s word and talk to Him every day.
Believers want to sell what they have and give to the poor.
Believers want to meet together and worship God.
Believers want to share their meals and fellowship with one another.
God calls all of His believers to go and make disciples. If you don’t know how, ask Him.
Matthew 28:19 “Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.” (NLT)
Focus: If we truly believe in God, we will want to know Him and obey Him.
