MY 100 DAYS 10+ EXERCISE STREAK
Woo-Hoo!!!! I have reached 100 days in my 10 minutes or more exercise streak!! Celebrate with me!
I decided to share this because if I can do it, so can you!
I have always been more or less faithful to exercise, almost always first thing when I get up in the morning, but I have to admit there were more than a few days when I didn’t exercise - either because I had a busy day ahead and “didn’t have time”, or because I got up too late, or I was “too tired” and sometimes because I just didn’t feel like exercising. I think we all have used these excuses and others to avoid exercising.
Then one day I happened to read SparkGuy's blog when his streak of 10 + minutes a day of exercise was fairly new…. I think he was on Day 48. I read his blog the next few days, and began to think “Maybe I could do that….” After all… 10 minutes…. Even on a busy day I could take 10 minutes to exercise!!! And so after a few weeks of thinking about it, I began my streak!
And I found that once I started, I didn’t want to break my streak. (I have a very competitive nature!) So even when I was rushed, or tired or just didn’t feel like exercising, I told myself “Just do 10 minutes” and I did!! Actually most days I exercise for 30-40 minutes, but, yes, once in a while circumstances make me do just the 10 minutes – but that isn’t very often.
Recently I traveled to participate in a conference, and was at a hotel for a week. For the first time in my life, I actually exercised in my hotel room! I just couldn’t break my streak!!
Benefits??? I feel better – physically and emotionally. Exercise does lower stress levels!! I’ve lost a few more pounds – finally breaking the plateau I had been on for a long time! And now I truly feel that daily exercise has become a habit. I no longer think about it or debate whether or not I’m going to exercise – I get up, get into my exercise clothes and start my “10 minutes” – which almost always ends up being at least 30 minutes. And if not, at least I’ve done my 10 minutes!!!

Now to see if I can reach 200 days!!
