Denial doesn’t work. Moderation does. So plan to have your “weak moments”. Choosing between loads of temptation or loads of deprivation? To avoid complete surrender: Remember to eat less for several days before. Stuff yourself at home with diet foods before the party so that you can only just barely sample the most tempting items; buy a diet treat to take to take along in your purse (a really fine bittersweet chocolate, a LC candy…); make a favorite diet treat to have at home later (why eat more than a token bite of birthday cake when you have strawberries and real whipped cream waiting?).
