Christmas is a lot of.....

Thursday, December 18, 2014

I haven't blogged about the Germans-(as in dogs)--or Fat Cat, for ages----
I guess because they are all doing so well--Tess (the long hair Shepherd)-is over the Blastomycosis---and Fat Cat (alias "Snoop")-is beginning to put some weight back on---He turned out to have an overactive thyroid , which the medication, given to him twice a day, seems to have calmed him down a lot---
He loves to sit under the tree!
And with each new day, Christmas is coming together---
I think Christmas is a lot of work-----mostly for the wife----
It's a lot of money------m0stly for Himself.......
It's a lot of food-----
I think I'll be happy when it's all over!

My (slightly irreverent) standard joke is that Mary only had to do Christmas once: and she had lots more help than the average woman today -- wise men handling the gift shopping; heavenly host handling the entertainment; d├ęcor courtesy of "star in the east"; transportation by donkey (not minivan and traffic jams); accommodations in the stable (not endless rounds of sheet washing and bed making for house guests); and meals? I'm betting that the shepherds watching their flocks were considering which were optimal candidates for roast mutton!!

Whereas we do it over and over again year after year and keep right on smiling.

The Holy Season of CHRISTmas seems to demand a lot of going & doing on our part, what with one group & another. We Visions scaled down quite a bit this year --- both with the activities we choose to be apart of & with the type of gift giving we have chosen to do --- meaning gift cards a-plenty instead of gift buying, wrapping, & in some cases posting off.

    God bless!

You're so right about women bearing the burden of Christmas, but it is something we really can control. I no longer worry about or try to do everything - if it gets done - woohoo - and if it doesn't, well that's OK too!! Focus more on what you like about the season!!!

Beautiful animals celebrating the holidays. Today for the first time the Prisoner played with the Christmas tree... he was stuck inside due to the weather... and I came home to a skewed tree skirt after work.

You're right about Christmas. We are all trying to change that (all as in hubby, kids and their partners/family) for years and it has improved immensely.

Take a break and breathe. Take time to rest.

Great pics of the Germans and Fat Cat!!! They all look very happy and lucky to have you as their mommy!!! emoticon

This year the Christmas work is falling on my himself since I am having difficulty getting around on my bum knee. Swelling is going down and Lymes test was negative so now on to see the ortho who did my himself's hip replacement to see what can be done short of surgery. It starts to feel better and the swelling goes down and then flares up again so time to get it look at and be told what I already know...arthritis from an old injury years ago. Not really painful but the swelling makes walking a but awkward. emoticon Anyway my himself has stepped up and is finishing the shopping and helping out with the cleaning and decorating. He can be such a sweetie!!

It is a difficult time of year to stay on track but emoticon Mind over matter or more precisely mind over food, at least food we should avoid!! emoticon

    Have a lovely Thursday!!
