It Was So Good To Be Back

I volunteer at the American Girl Warehouse. Because of the Car/Deer accident I was in, I have NOT been able to volunteer since October 29th. After 9 weeks of Physical Therapy, I was finally given the ALL-CLEAR to drive. It was SO GOOD to be back among the volunteers. This is my 5th year of volunteering for American Girl, and I love it. I have met so many wonderful women. Even though the main reason we gather together is to get the dolls prepared for our big sale in July (we have one sale/year and the proceeds go to the Madison Children's Museum as well as other children's charities), we have also become very good friends and our conversations often turn into therapy sessions. I have talked to several of the volunteers about Spark People and we often compare menus, exercises, and things that work and also those that don't. We also discuss our present stations in life. Several of us are dealing with issues that tend to affect women of our age. I talked to the head of the volunteers today about her upcoming hip replacement surgery (I may be facing this in the near future). I talked to another volunteer at my table about her 94 year old mother and how she is dealing with the problems associated with aging parents.
I think that, as women, we are very good at counseling each other and being there for each other and I REALLY appreciate this. I have found this to be the case quite often here at Spark and know that others feel the same way.
my Spark Friends.
