Our company is here and will be through Sunday. They are outdoor people, so we decided to make outdoor plans for tomorrow. It is a free fishing weekend, which means that ANYONE can fish without having to buy a license. My husband made a very nice Ice Shanty last winter complete with a wood stove, which keeps it very warm. We are going to take the Shanty over to a lake about 7 miles from us and park it on the shore. This will be our center for warmth and also for lunch and snacks. We made a big pot of BBQ and will have coffee and hot chocolate plus lots of food to snack on. Our son and DIL and their two girls will be there and are bringing their ice skates, just in case the fish aren't biting. We will also have sleds and a toboggan plus fishing gear for all who want to try. My husband will cut several holes and set the tip-ups for the fishermen/women. It is supposed to be quite warm, so should be a good day for this activity. We just came out of a real deep-freeze and the high of 38 tomorrow will feel like Spring!!! This is a lake that I grew up on and it always provided us with so many activities no matter what the season. I learned to swim in it when I was 4 and to ice skate and was always involved in boating activities. Our Grand-daughter, Elizabeth, is always asking me to tell her stories about when I was her age (7), so I will have lots of material for tomorrow.
I hope that all of you have a wonderful weekend, full of outdoor activities and fresh air.
What fun! I used to ice skate when I was younger, and I loved it. It was the only thing that I enjoyed about winter (well, except Santa and hot chocolate, LOl) Enjoy your company! 1789 days ago
