I Don't Know What I Did?????????

Monday, February 02, 2015

When I woke up this morning, my left hip was screaming!!!!! I have osteoarthritis and bursitis in it and have been treating it since the end of October. I have been taking an anti-inflammatory, using Voltaren Cream topically over the hip, and have gone to a Physical Therapist for exercises which will strengthen my core to take some of the stress off of my hip and spine. I have been trying to think of what I might have done to bring on the pain, and the only thing I can think of is the fact that we had snow storms all weekend with a drop in temperature, which can trigger more arthritic pain.

So........this morning, I spent an hour doing the core exercises and will spend another hour doing them tonight, and hopefully the stretching that goes along with them will help with the pain. I will also try alternating heat and ice treatments. Any other ideas?

I also have both of my Grand-daughters late this afternoon and for supper and the evening, so I had better be able to move quickly and last for at least 4 hours.........Wish me the emoticon

Ouch! having had bursitis, I know how painful it is! And added to arthritis... Does NOT sound like fun! Maybe you walked outside in the snow? just the walk or maybe the gait with a pair of boots on? Hope it is doing better now. I'm thinking soaking in a hot bath would be nice... or a Jacuzzi...

    Hi Patti,
I hope you feel better soon. I feel very sore from shoveling snow. We have 11.9" of snow yesterday. I think I do not do well in cold temps now that I am older. I am sure you have had a very good time with the grand daughters.
Take care & God bless! emoticon

IF it's sciatic pain, perhaps something like ThermaCare would help.

Otherwise, have you tried icing the area for about 15 minutes/ And alternate with heating pad.

Absolutely for sure the change in barometric pressure associated with the system that literally blew though here yesterday will cause joint pain BIG TIME.

Hugs and hope you feel better.

Incidentally, doing core exercises and stretches is a treat help too.

I do wish you the best. I had hip arthritis but without the additional insult of bursitis. Yikes! Good luck to you....and yes, weather makes a difference. Hang in there and hopefully your granddaughters will be all sweetness and light and a little low energy (ha!) tonight.
