Training for my First Century

At the end of December 2014 I decided to train for a Century ride. This is an event I thought I would have completed last year, but needless to say, it didn’t’ happen. I am still new to road cycling and I really want to accomplish this goal for 2015. In preparation I am using a 16-week beginners program and I’m proud to say that I’ve completed 5 weeks on schedule. The catch is I’m forced to indoor training so I’m hoping it will translate well on the road. The good news is that I have been dedicated to riding four times per week for five weeks(Bill60 advised me to shoot of 5 times per week; still working on that); so I am developing some consistency. This program has the potential for many benefits such as weight loss; strength and muscle tone, stamina, cardio-vascular fitness, improved coordination and stress reduction. I would say these are some great benefits. The date is set for the Century September 5, 2015; we will see how it goes!

I’m proud of my accomplishment so far regarding consistency. I’ve not loss much weight; but I know it’s on the way. I’m so excited I just wanted to share with my SparkFriends.
