Might be down but not out

Monday, February 09, 2015

Last Thursday I took a spill at work and was very lucky I landed on my butt and did not hurt my knees. However, hopefully all I did was bruise my hip and bottom side. I cannot hardly move or walk. I have a doctor appointment on Wednesday to see exactly what damage I did to myself.

Other good things--I was inside the building. Had my phone with me so I could call for assistance...I tried to get up, but since my knees are still on the new side, I could not bear weight on them to pull myself up. I have to say I was embarrassed that I had to have two guys pull me up by my arms. But so fortunate that I was able to at least move some with my canes. I still am not sure what damage I have done, but at least I can walk slow with my canes and/or walker.

So, now I am more determined than ever to get this excess weight off. I was so grateful that I was not at the high weight I once was and have fallen. But still humbled that I had to have assistance to get up and so wishing I was at a size where I could have gotten up myself.

I am following my food plan. Happy to be able to be back online and catching up with Sparkpeople.

Life is good. emoticon

Doing pretty good on healing. Just bruised myself. I still have more pain than I did in my right hip. That may not be because of my fall, but just because my hip is so bad and it is getting replaced on the 9th of March. A very good thing. Plus, Dr. weighed me to see if I was at weight needed for her to do surgery (her requirement is 40 or below on BMI) I weighed in at 254.5 which was a half pound under my 255 to be at 39.83 BMI. Still want to get to 250 by the 9th of March because she would like me to weigh that...go figure...

Oh Mari, just seeing this! I sure hope you're feeling better now, and didn't do anything but bruise anything... and if you've got knee problems or something else going on, getting up is challenging! I remember being 190 when I had my gallbladder out, and could hardly move to go potty - getting up off the floor would have been impossible, and it wouldn't have been because of my weight. So no beating yourself for needing help! We ALL need help every now and again!

Falling is a very humbling experience, so sorry you took a spill, lucky to be in a safe place as you mentioned. My husband's co-worker fell crossing the office road, and a car from another workplace, drove around her, rather than stop to help her up. Maybe they could not lift her either, but she had a hard time over that happening, I also hope your haven't suffered any damage to your knees
