March 6, 2015 WE ARE TESTED

Who likes test? Not many. To some tests are hard and take time to get ready for. To prepare for a test we have to study or practice. We need to know what will be on the test and what our answer should be. The reward for passing a test is moving to the next level or grade when we are in school. When we are out of school, there are stills tests but in different forms and we have to be ready and prepare just the same. The reward is a promotion, a higher level of responsibility or maybe something monetary. But the greatest and most important tests are from God and the reward for patiently passing a test from God is so much more: a crown of life.

James 1:12 “God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.” (NLT)

Dear Lord, we know You test us. We know You want to see if we are ready for the next level of responsibility to live for You. Help us to prepare for Your testing by reading Your word and studying it. Help us to prepare for Your tests by spending quiet time with You. Help us to prepare for Your tests by being patient with others and during hard times. When we have faith in You, spend time with You and really listen to You, we will be ready for when we are tested by You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Not all things are tests from God but it doesn’t matter. We are to do right no matter what situation we are faced with.

When we fail a test from God, He forgives and gives us a chance to try again.

Being patient during a test from God will help us put our trust in Him rather than attempting to do things our way.

To be ready for tests from God we need to stay in His word and spend daily quiet time with Him.

When we stay on God’s path and not the path of the world, we will be ready when we are tested by God.

Job 3:10-11 “But he knows where I am going. And when he tests me, I will come out as pure as gold. For I have stayed on God’s paths; I have followed his ways and not turned aside.” (NLT)

Focus: When we pass a test from God, we are given so much more than this world could ever give.
