My secret to night time eating
Wednesday, March 11, 2015
I wanted to share this experience with all of you since so many, like myself, have such a problem with night time eating. Early last September I started crocheting hats for kids with cancer, and began to notice that I didn't snack so much while I was crocheting. So when that project finished at my Homemakers group, I changed to a larger hook size and continued to crochet, this time making hats for homeless adults. I have now been crocheting hats every night for over six months and am continuing to lose weight and almost eliminate night time snacking.
As soon as I pick up my crochet hook and yarn, it's like taking a diet pill; my appetite goes away. It's only a snacking appetite anyway, because I never crochet until after dinner when I'm full from the days' food portions. When I settle into my recliner and turn on my Kindle to watch a movie or series, I get out my yarn and hook and settle down for a few hours without one thought of food.
Right now I'm looking into other small projects with the summer coming. Hats aren't out of the question, however, as I can never have too many hats ready for next winter's cold months, and maybe sell a few on the side. Last night I crocheted 10 little red Christmas wreaths for pins that I will decorate with beads for presents for my friends next Christmas. I got a late start for St. Patty's Day, but have a great pattern for next year!
I've decided that afghans are out of the question because they're too hot for the summer and I like the gratification a finished project each night.
So if you'll excuse me now, it's getting late and I need to get my hook and yarn out. besides, the cute guy on the JUSTIFIED series is waiting to entertain me!!
