Recouping from Hip Replacement Surgery

Tuesday, March 17, 2015

Well, on March 9th I had my right hip replaced. All went well with that. A little added bonus, or not, is the tingly foot/leg that I now have to work with. It's like both my foot and leg are asleep. And if you know anything about sleepy foot stuff...it is very annoying. The hip bothers me less. I have to remind myself that I can, and have to, walk on the sleepy leg/foot.
Last Tuesday, day after surgery, I was cast for a boot, that I wear in my shoe to help keep my foot from drooping. It basically keeps it straight for walking, etc. It is annoying, but at least I have some feeling in it and they are pretty sure it should all come back to normal. Just that nerves/muscles are not coming back as soon as they 'should'....Something the doctors say is not common, but also not uncommon. Go figure. The good side of all of this...is that I am not hungry at all. So, I am hoping it is aiding in my weight loss. I am forcing myself to eat and take in my protein...so for most part, I sleep, eat some yogurt or protein drink(s) and sleep some more...with some pain medication that eases the pain...
Enough for now..

Nerves are funny creatures... they take a long time to heal... (says the girl with the tingly head)...

So glad the surgery went well, and I hope the neuropathy goes away quickly! emoticon

Glad your surgery went will for you MARI195! My wife has an intermedullary nail in her hip and it took her about 6 weeks to start feeling normal again. Hopefully you get there sooner. Good luck and with that said, let's just keep on keeping on! Kneemaker--and yes I am in the orthopedic business.
