Becoming Healthier

I am 46 years old and have been overweight all of my life. I weighed about 380 lbs at my heaviest. I had lost about 30 lbs on and off over the years and fluctuated around 350 lbs for several years. Recently, two dear friends/ classmates died due to health reasons complicated by weight issues. This has been such a major loss. However, my biggest wake up call happened on February 13, 2015. I almost collapsed in front of the building where I work. My blood sugar was out of control. I knew I must change my life! My Valentine's Day gift to myself was to join SparkPeople. Since then I have lost additional weight, but just as importantly I am learning so much. I am feeling stronger and becoming healthier every day!

    emoticon on the healthy change and weight loss. Sometimes we just have to be slapped in the face before we face reality and make the change. Keep it up. You made a huge step just admitting a change is needed.

    The healthy lifestyle isn't always the easiest but it the best lifestyle. Eating the recommended 25 to 35 grams of fiber daily will help you lower your blood sugar and it can also help lower your blood pressure. Eating the good carbs verses the bad carbs will help stabilize your blood sugar as well. Keep it up. You'll soon be a all new you.

    Good Girl. We are so happy your with us... Now we got to get up up and running.. Water huge part.. I hated to drink the water.. so I flavored it myself with oranges or lemons the night before.. I had a problem with portions.. so I used the desert plate and then sipped all though cooking and refilled for Dinner.. There is a ton of ways I can tell you and you may know things.. so if you get a idea.. you may think that is a good idea but then you may have to tweak it a bit to fit you. I have cut all sugar out and if I need it I use Splenda and if it is Herbal Tea.. I use a touch of Honey.. I love a cup of Chamomile Tea before bed.. So I have given you a few and if you need help to redo any recipes I can help with that also..I am here and Spark me if you need to..
