Ducks In A Row:

Wednesday, March 25, 2015

I know what I'll be doing this October. So now the question is: How well will I be doing it. I will be running three marathons. Race registrations are paid; hotel reservations are made; day after adventures are planned; and Judith is on board.

I was waiting to see how I made out in the Marine Corps Marathon registration lottery before I dropped the hammer on all this, but now it's written in stone. I've crept up to 185 lbs. and I feel pretty good at that weight, but I have six months to work on this and I plan to weigh thirty lbs. less by the Wineglass Marathon in Corning, NY on October 4th. Next will be the Empire State Marathon in Syracuse on the 18th and the MCM in and around D.C. on the 25th. On May 17th, I will be running a mostly downhill marathon in Stroudsburg PA. I've Done this before in 4 hours 43 minutes two years ago and in 5 hours 5 minutes last year. I'm hoping to have my best time this year and use it as a baseline for the fall. To tell the truth, that looks a little iffy.

Anyway, that's my plan and I'm going to put a lot of effort into carrying it out at a level that will neither embarrass nor injure me. If things start to look good, I may look for a another race to fill in that second weekend in October.

I came across your site via Don's site.Been a spark friend of Don't for some time.

Saw you are running MCM. It is an awesome run. I have done it twice and loved every minute of both events. The second time I did it was in 2012 before the lottery. I had to walk half the distance - my hip was killing me after a fall on my bike a month prior.

Wow! Incredible! That is amazing to commit to doing all that in a month! Barring any more injuries/setbacks I can see you getting this. You work so hard at everything and have that never give up no matter what attitude that will carry you far! A 30 lb weight drop sounds dramatic (not knowing how tall you are) but it sure would make you light on your feet! Your the man!!

I smiled big when I got to the part about carrying out your plan "at a level that will neither embarrass me nor injure me." Embarrassed?! How could you be embarrassed? You are AMAZING! Three marathons with a possibility of a fourth and constant training even in bad weather?! No matter what your results turn out to be in numbers, your results in terms of strength, stamina, and determination are just, well, awe-inspiring!
