urgent prayer request

Thursday, March 26, 2015

Yesterday was turning out to be a great day. I had so much productive work done. I enjoyed all my clients and i just felt great. (for a person with arthritis and fibromyalgia, good pain days are such a blessing) I got home from work and made a wonderful healthy salad with spinach and grilled chicken and fresh veggies and goat cheese. I got to see my sweetie and give him a big kiss. I mean, really, all was lovely. My son had his girlfriend over, i love her and we watched tv together. My husband left to attend his community group bible study (we go to two different ones) . When he got home, he told me the bad news.
Our pastors wife, her name is Cheryl. She is a beautiful soul. Sweet as you can imagine. I am close to her, but she has been sick since October. She had cellulitis in her legs. She has been in and out of the hospital since October. She has been at a short term rehab facility trying to regain her strength from being on bed rest essentially since october. Anyway, she still has this nasty infection in her leg, and is on several antibiotics. Well on tuesday, my pastor went to the rehab and found her short of breath and weak. He took her to the emergeny room and they admitted her. She has double pnuemonia, sepsis, osteomylitis (infection in the bone from the leg wound) and is in early stages of organ failure. They have her on a ventilator. She is in critical condition. We are all devestated and terrified of losing her. She is 45 years old. A truly precious and kind woman and beloved by everyone. The whole church is under attack i declare! Please pray for Cheryl If you have a prayer program at your church, if you have prayer warriors on your friend list or anything and anyone, please pray for Cheryl. She and Bob have a 16 year old son Noah. Its a very scary time right now. But we know God is in control. But please please pray for her! thank you.

Cheryl is still critical but stable. However, all the changes in her condition have been for the better— lactic acid levels down, blood pressure up, heart rate down. The challenges ahead are the pneumonia, the presence of growing bacteria her blood, a UTI and the sepsis. Her kidney function has rebounded back, and we are especially thankful for this. She remains unconscious and under sedation, and continues to rely on the ventilator for breathing. She has a feeding tube. In all of this, the ICU doctor tells me that when a patient stabilizes and doesn’t get sicker in the first 24 hours, they count that as a victory. I’ll go along with that! emoticon
