Happy to Have Good Results

Monday, March 30, 2015

Today I had my physical and got the results of my recent blood tests. Overall, the results were good. Best of all, my weigh-in indicated I weigh 4 pounds less than I did at my last appointment.

Although I am happy with any amount of weight loss, I had hoped to learn that I had lost more than 4 pounds, so I was a little disappointed. That is until I realized that my last doctor's appointment was more than 2 months before I started using SparkPeople. Because much of the time between my last appointment and my decision to starting tracking my nutrition fell during the holidays and because I know I gained some weight during that time, I will be happy with the 4 pounds.

One result I was surprised by is that my cholesterol is up a little, not enough for my doctor to be concerned about, but she does want me to keep it in mind as I make my food choices. I'm not sure how my cholesterol increased. I checked my nutrition reports and I was within the recommended range every day but two for more than 2 months. Maybe during the holidays it went up and then started down again when I started tracking. My next labs will be interesting to see.

I was happy I could tell my doctor that I have been using SparkPeople. And, I didn't have to explain to her what it is because she is familiar with the website and its tools. She is pleased that I am using it. At my next appointment, I plan to impress her even more with a greater weight loss and improving cholesterol numbers.

I wouldn't sweat the cholesterol thing too much beyond just keeping doing what you're doing. Did they mention that cholesterol can be thrown off by a high sugar day? Triglycerides can affect your overall cholesterol. It happened to my husband, and the next testing was in the normal range. So just keep eating well, and keep focusing on overall health, and the doc will tell you if you need to change what you're doing. Be proud of the awesome changes you've made! You rocked that appointment!
