Plan B

Saturday, April 11, 2015

My running buddy and I were all set to run a 5K race tonight. The rain was light but the lightning... they held the race after a delay, but the lighting was still too close for us. We found a dry place and ate the light meal that we were supposed to enjoy afterwards. I was counting on the mileage to reach my goal of running 11 miles this week. This week concludes my 4th week of consistent running. I started with 2 weeks of 10 miles/week, then 2 weeks of 11 miles... uh, except I was counting on those 3 miles to give me my total.
As we drove home I thought I'd head out anyway because the weather had cleared. As we pull into the driveway, the was a flash of lighting, so nope, I have rounded out this week's goal with 50 minutes on the elliptical.
In the morning I see my trainer. I haven't seen her for a couple weeks due to schedule conflicts. I have a concert in the afternoon - playing in the orchestra for a chorale concert. Tomorrow starts next week's goal: 12 miles.
Keep it shiny Sparkers!

I think lightning is a very good reason to miss hitting your goal for the week! I'm just amazed that you can run so much, so far, so often! Great work!

I'm glad you decided to be safe rather than get your mileage in. It is a bummer that you had to miss your race, though. Enjoy the concert :-)
