A few weeks ago I had an epiphany. I didn't realise what the true list of my illness was. Every time I spoke with my doctor, we only spoke of one issue at a time. Because I was about to lead a healthy living group and the lessen was "What are your Reasons?", I took the time to list my health concerns to share with the group as a tool to explain my motivation. My list included eight complaints including obesity.

For these problems I take eight (8) pills every morning. Because of the AM meds, I often have to take one or two sleeping pills at night.

Clearly, if I only had one of these medical problems, I wouldn't feel really sick. But seeing this list written down, I realize that I am a very sick women. I also realised that for seven of items on the list that obesity is a major contributing factor.

This revelation has been a real wake up call. I really need to lose some weight.

Now I need to find a more positive way to be motivated. "I'm sick and tire of being sick and tired" has a very negative vibe to it.

What do you think of "I will lose weight for myself -- I'm worth it!" instead?

Yup! -- that's my new mantra - "I'm worth it!!!"
