June 4, 2015 CONFESSION TO GOD
If we have ever done something we weren’t proud of and attempted to hide it, we know the guilt and the problems it can cause. When we do wrong and don’t admit it, we become miserable. We lie. We hide from others. We continue to cover things up until we have a big mess on our hands. However, the sooner we confess what we did wrong and tell the truth, the smoother things will go. Confession is good for us because it is what God wants us to do and it is the right thing to do. Let’s not burden ourselves with the guilt that comes from lying and covering up wrongdoing. Let’s confess what we have done and allow God to forgive and cleanse us. When we do, we will feel much lighter and less burdened.
1 John 1:9 “But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.” (NLT)
Dear Lord, show us our wrongdoing. Help us to know what areas of our lives are full of sin. Sometimes we don’t see it ourselves. Sometimes we are too busy justifying what we do and covering it up, we don’t realize it is wrong. Show us today what things we need to confess, what things we need to turn away from and where we need to be cleansed and forgiven. Thank You, Lord, for Your forgiveness and Your willingness to cleanse us from all wickedness. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Confession is good for the soul.
Let’s not burden ourselves with the guilt that comes from lying and covering up wrongdoing.
When we confess our sins to God, He will cleanse us from all wickedness.
Sometimes we are too busy to see the wrong we have done. That is why we need a right relationship with God and ask Him to reveal it to us.
When we confess our sins to God, He forgives and removes our guilt and burden.
Psalm 32:5 “Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide my guilt. I said to myself, ‘I will confess my rebellion to the Lord.’ And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone.” (NLT)
Focus: Confess all sin to God, turn away from that sin and seek His forgiveness.
