Frustration Is Building

Sunday, June 07, 2015

I have been on SparkPeople for about a month and a half and I was so excited the first week I lost about 4 pounds (obviously water weight and just from changing my eating habits) and now I have gained two of that back and feel like I am never getting ahead. I am getting so frustrated because I am just not making time for the exercise part.

I work part time, but then to supplement my income I also sell Knitted Name Banners as well as dog walking, so I have a lot of things going on all at once and the stress of it all is getting the best of me for sure.

I have been good about eating better, that part is not as challenging for me because I just don't buy the bad stuff when I grocery shop, and I use the trackers here on SparkPeople. I even have the SPAT which always says that I have burned at least 200 calories a day just from normal activity so my body is getting some kind of burn off but apparently it isn't enough.

The Summer Meltdown Biggest Loser challenge starts in only 4 days and my goal was to have lost 5 pounds total since joining SparkPeople (would have only been about 2 pounds when I made that goal), but now it seems so out of reach.

Now that my crazy vent is over, I am getting back into my routine and will make time for the exercise portion. Instead of just taking the dog out to pee, we will walk around the block a little more or something like that. I will make time in my crazy schedule to get at least 30 minutes of workout in each day.

You can so do this. Just breathe and think about how good it makes you feel when you do finally exercise. That will help relieve some of the stress too. You can do it for the challenge! It will just help motivate you to fit it in.

Don't get discouraged! Your body has set itself at a certain point, so it takes a little while to encourage it to get off the plateau.
I love your idea of taking the dogs out for a walk. I think this will help you and the pups!

Don't let the numbers on the scale get you down. Weight loss is a lot like a rollercoaster, there are plenty of ups and downs. Making time for exercise is not always easy but I believe you can do it! emoticon

    You can do it!

I like to think of weight gain as an unwanted consequence of the choices I've been making. So if I want to lose weight, all I have to do is make different choices.

I can totally relate. I gained 1.8 lbs of water weight this morning and I felt super upset about it :P Now I've got perspective lol

I'm wishing you all the best! Learning to work healthy choices into our lives is a long journey.

stress causes weight gain so that might be a consideration try some mediation or yoga to relax

also you might be in starvation mode where you need to add more calories, change up your workout routine and you could see changes then

have you checked to make sure also you do not have any thryoid isssues which could be causing you not to loose weight.

It takes time, if you are doing things right then sometimes it just takes time for it to catch up to the scale. I know for my body it never seems to respond exactly as it "should" so I quit expecting that at one point and just decided I'll just keep going and just patiently await the progress to show up and it always did! LOL It's not realistic for me to join those challenges because of how my body just is unpredictable when it decides to finally let go! LOL It never hurts to do a little problem solving like you did and decide to add a bit more here and there or change a little something more, another tweak to the daily habits! I still do it it's kinda just part of the deal of living the healthy life. You are doing great and your hard work will pay off it just might take a tad bit longer than expected at first!

even if you are doing everything right the weight doesn't always come off at the same rate, just keep plugging along and it will!

It will take time, after all, you didn't gain the weight in a day or even a week, right?

Definitely don't stress, that will just make it worse! You have so much going on so I would definitely say to find a fitness activity that is really fun and helps you let go of some of the frustration . As hard as it is, also remember that you are making a difference even if the scale doesn't show it. Whether you see it or feel it, feeding your body nutritious foods is benefiting you and your life. So be proud of yourself for eating better. Because in the end that is really what matters....treating your body right. Keep it up and you will eventually start seeing that number go down. Don't be too hard on yourself! You are fantastic and you have got this!! emoticon emoticon emoticon
