June 12, 2015 REVENGE
There are some who get so angry at others that they want to take revenge on that person. It may be something small like starting a little rumor or it may be something big that could really hurt that person. Taking revenge on others is totally opposite from what God wants us to do. It is totally opposite from forgiveness. It is totally opposite from love. We are told by God to never seek revenge on others. We need to let God take care of giving them what the truly deserve.
Leviticus 19:18 “Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against a fellow Israelite, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord.” (NLT)
Dear Lord, we know we sometimes get angry enough at others that we want something bad to happen to them. We sometimes even get a little happy when things go wrong with those who have done wrong to us. That is human nature but we know it is possible to get past those feelings of anger and give it to You. We know You are the One who will, one day, judge them for their actions. And Your judgment will be just and fair. Help us with our feelings to get back at others so we can give You our issues. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
God wants us to give Him our anger on those who have done wrong to us. He will take care of seeing they get what they deserve.
When we focus on God when others do us wrong, we will learn to lean on Him rather than wanting to pay them back.
Revenge doesn’t solve issues. It only makes things worse.
When we show God’s love and forgiveness to those who do wrong to us, we can possibly help them change the evil ways.
God’s anger is righteous and He will take care of getting even with those who do us wrong.
Romans 12:19 “Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say, ‘I will take revenge; I will pay them back,’ says the LORD.” (NLT)
Focus: Rather than paying back those who do us wrong with revenge, let’s show them love and forgiveness.
