June 17, 2015 ACTIONS
Actions speak louder than words. We see people who say one thing and do another. And, if we are honest with ourselves, we would admit we tend to do the same. However, since our actions do speak much louder than our words do, we need to be more cautious about the actions we do take. What right things are we doing that reveal we are followers of Christ? What wrong things are we doing? When our words and actions don’t match up, we are setting the wrong example for others. If we will be honest, and repent, God is ready to forgive so we can begin living completely for Him.
1 John 1:8-9 “If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth.” (NLT)
Dear Lord, we pray You will reveal to us anything we are doing that is not pleasing to You. We pray You will reveal to us anything we are saying and not following through on. We pray You will reveal to us any mismatch in our words and actions. Help us to take the right action for You. Help us to be a better godly example to others. Help us to be strong and resist temptation to do wrong. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
When our words and actions don’t match up, we aren’t fooling anyone but ourselves.
Those who say one thing and do another need to be gently corrected and reminded about God’s commands.
When our words and actions don’t match up, we are setting the wrong example for others.
When we are doing wrong but not admitting it to anyone, we are living in a lie.
God is willing and able to forgive us when we confess our sins to Him.
1 John 1:9 “But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.” (NLT)
Focus: We should continuously review our actions and words so we are doing what is pleasing to God.
