June 17th I turned 68. Now, I don't feel old but my body does after 8+ hours on my feet lifting and moving heavy bolts of fabric all day. I am looking forward to finally retiring on June 25th at 5PM (my last shift working at JoAnns). The last couple of months have been very difficult seeing so many of my co workers, who I have been working with for the last 9 years leaving one by one and the new management trying to establish itself. It has not been an easy transition and the few long time employees who are left are not sure they will continue much longer. This is very hard as we were like a family and all worked well together and it will be difficult to not see each other at work.
I am looking forward to being able to spend time with Cameron and do things around the house that have long been undone because I didn't have the time. I plan to go to some classed at the Y which we joined a few months ago. Will be trying a Piloxing class, starting early Tuesday mornings, with my oldest daughter at the Y to see if I can keep up but they also have classes for Active Older Adults which are a little less strenuous which we have been going to but the timing will not work out in the fall when Cameron goes to Nursery school so I will either have to exercise on my own or take other classes at an earlier time.
Hope everyone has a great summer.

Congratulations and Happy Birthday! I had retirement forced on me when I got in a serious accident but now I sew and knit and crochet and garden and I am not sure how I had time to work full time !

I hope you enjoy your retirement as much as I am enjoying mine. Enjoy this time and do some things you really like. I go to water aerobics at the swim club most mornings with a friend and really like it.

    Best wishes.

Retirement is awesome!! I am so grateful I've been able to experience good years of retirement. It's so busy...way, way more than I ever expected. It'll be a little bit of an adjustment, but so worth it. The Y services are just terrific, too. Enjoy!! emoticon

You are going to love being retired! I retired from teaching 3 years ago. I haven't had the urge to go back to work anywhere yet, so I'm still enjoying myself! Lots of reading, walking, meditating, praying, and baking!

Wow. That is quite a decision. I wish you all the best with your retirement. It does sound like it is a good time to retire with all the changes and people leaving, etc. Retiring does take some adjusting to...but, it is great! For me, the biggest thing was to make sure I still had somewhat of a schedule for certain things, otherwise, I become too willy nilly and never get around to some things that need doing.

So congratulations on your decision, and let us know how things are going for you after you've retired.
