Planning and Prepping

Thursday, July 09, 2015

I was offered my new job on June 30th! Only caveat was that I had to accept that day and move there before July 30th. OK, we can do that. Start the whirl wind of an adventure! We decided that meant we had to drop everything and go up to NC 4th of July weekend so we could scope the place out and find a place to live. Lucky my SIL lives in Virginia and we had a place to stay. So we left the night of the 3rd after hubby got off work and proceeded to drive 50mph across the entire state because it was raining so hard. It was exhausting! We got to his Grandma's house in AL at midnight and passed out. We got a little later start in the morning than we had initially intended on the 4th, but we made it to VA by 10pm. We again passed out. LOL We took both cars up there and the dog. We left one car and the dog up there. Sunday we went to VA Beach and I rocked my bikini. Hubby isn't a beach person so we only stayed 2 hours. I took a long walk on the beach with my SIL. We saw a pod of dolphins hunting and it was gorgeous weather. Then Monday was so stressful! But in the end we found a place to live for 6 months. We'll worry about the little stuff later. We can't move in until August 7th though, so we might stay with the SIL again and just have to drive an hour and a half to work and back for a week and a half. Then Tuesday we drove home. We again got a later start than we wanted to. We left VA at 7am EST and got back home in MS at 1am CST. EXHAUSTED! But we just went into work late and it was all good.

So that is life now: planning and prepping. I got my prescriptions filled yesterday and did grocery shopping. I also canceled our gym membership yesterday. Tonight I'll go get an oil change on hubby's car. I'm told that makes me the best wife he ever had (not hard since I'm his only wife he's ever had). Then we are packing the house more this weekend. Hubby has to work Saturday. We are going to do one room at a time in order to clean carpets as we go. I have lists of things to do. I'm trying not to stress, but hubby is better than me at that part. I stress over everything. * sigh * In the end everything will be amazing. I can't wait to start my new job. It's just what I wanted to be doing!

Marine fisheries biologist... no training, just a learning curve jumping back in to fisheries after being in aquaculture for 4 years. But like riding a bike, fish ID comes right back to you like you hadn't stopped doing it. We're pretty excited for the new adventures to come!

What is the new job? Does it require training first? How exciting!!
Very smart renting first. you have great relatives in the area, so that helps in an emergency too. This is the time in your life to do moves. You have nothing to lose, no kids to pull out of school. no school systems to research. It really IS an adventure!!

Congratulations and the very best of luck in both of your new jobs. A new page in the book of your life together. What a great thing to look back on...
