It's All About Perspective

You can focus on the negative . . . or be thankful for the health you have.
Recently, my focus has been on the negative . . . an unfortunate, preventable (in my opinion) injury in spin class, that has removed me from my "happy place," and driven me into a depressed state. That is until I received some news from a dear friend that put things into perspective.
You see, this dear friend recieved devestating news about his health. Unthinkable news. Horrible news. He and his wife, expecting their first child within a month, received results from tests that revealed a brain tumor. And after surgery last week, the doctor told them he was unable to get the whole tumor. Chemo & radiation will commense immediately, and their 1st born child will be coming any day now.
Certainly puts my disappointment in not being able to spin anymore in perspective, now doesn't it? Now when I feel sad that I can't go to my "happy place" anymore, I think of my dear friends, and I don't feel as sad.
That's not to say that I'll let my gym off-the-hook that fast, but I won't come to tears over the situation like I did. I'm not as depressed over THAT situation anymore.
It's all about perspective.
