Starting again - Menu planning, dealing with muscle spasms, but never give up..

Monday, July 20, 2015

Seems like I always get on SP and then 'poof' - I disappear. But one thing's for sure -- I am not giving up! emoticon
So anyway, to save $$$ I have planned my meals out (mainly for my 2nd Shift hubby's sake) ahead until the end of the month. This way, there is no last minute “I don’t know what to do for dinner”…. And end up ordering out or getting WaWa.
It costs a lot to NOT plan out meals; money-wise and calorie-wise.
So I planned meals for dh since I have to cook his dinners before I go to work in the mornings since he’s already at work when I get home from work… and also meals for myself. –
a small breakfast (I’m not a big morning eater), 2 small snacks for between meals, lunch, dinner and a “treat” if necessary and if there is caloric room. Something small like a little cup of water ice, a freezy pop, etc… (Can you tell it’s feeling like 100+ degrees outside?)
Anyway, trying to keep the calories around 1500 a day.
I am also no longer going to intentionally purchase soda. – I’m not completely quitting soda, but, I am going to have more tea or water instead. I know the negatives of soda, especially diet soda. But if I completely outlaw it – I’ll crave it as much as someone who quit smoking craves a smoke. – and that’s not a joke. emoticon

I am also trying to do Jillian DVDs Mon, Wed, and Fridays.
Tuesday and Thursdays, Planet Fitness.

I have been having serious charly horses and muscle spasms everywhere – not just my legs and this has been making exercise difficult, so my workouts have diminished, but I am still trying.

I have been taking Magnesium, Vitamin D, Calcium and B12 vitamins to help with it. It has helped, however, I still do get these spasms and when I do – there isn’t much relief depending on the muscle itself. I have also made sure to drink lots of water.
1. Calves, ankles and feet – I can simply stand up and I am ok in a minute or two. (I prefer these anyday over the ones below)
2. Arms (forearm and/or triceps) – I try to stretch it out best I can, but then the other arm will spasm as I’m trying to stretch the original arm.
3. Abdomen – forget it!! Nothing helps this except to breathe as if I’m in labor for about 5-10 minutes.
4. And the worst one of all that has absolutely NO REMEDY!!!! ---- The Inner Thigh muscle!!! emoticon

When I get one of these, I cannot even move my leg, cannot stand on it, cannot stretch it and the pain is so intense, it just about makes me vomit and I break in a cold sweat. There is NOTHING I can do for this one and (I Googled it) apparently, I’m right…. Other people with that type of charly horse have no remedy either.

So I am still going to keep exercising however, severly modified. I am going to make my main focus for the time being, the foods I eat and keep planning out all meals for the next day and total up calories BEFORE the next day so that I will know what my calories are and make any necessary adjustments.

Well, that’s where I currently am. Hope everyone has been doing well. I haven’t been on SP in quite a while.
I always mean to get on SP more, but I seem to get caught up in the busy-ness of life. emoticon
Hopefully my next update I can say my muscles no longer spasm like they have been lately. emoticon emoticon

I know you can do this. As for the spasms, you and only you know your body. Which means only you can decide what is best and how much you can and can't take. You motivate me because, as long as I've known you even when things get tough I've never once heard you say "I give up" and you've never just plain out right stopped.. You're always trying. That means more than anything. That kind of an attitude is what it takes! Little steps, big steps, crawl, inch worm your way to where it is you need to be... Either way, you're gonna get there! Keep this up, you ARE AWESOME! I love you.
