The Other Side Of The Coin.......

First of all, I want to Thank all of you who responded to my blog yesterday about my Mom. I should have made it more clear that she has had this variation in heart rhythm for many years. Her heart beats normally for about 4 beats and then there is a slight pause before the fifth. The doctor who saw her on Wednesday (not her own) suggested having an EKG and Mom's reply was, "I am 91, and I have had this condition for years, and Thanks, but No Thanks, re: the EKG."
I was very willing to go with her to get this done, but when she makes up her mind, there is NO CHANGING IT!!!!!
I also agree with you who said that the lawyers and insurance companies are behind the doctors being VERY CAREFUL of what they do re: change of medication. Even though, in Mom's case, she was going back to medication that she has been on for years.
Sadly, as some of you who are nurses verified...........the changes in our Healthcare Systems are not always ones that are patient-friendly or even what is best for the patient. It is $ motivated.
I am very lucky to have my Mom with me at age 91, but it is also a challenge because she is very opinionated and doesn't always listen to my brother or me. WE are still CHILDREN in her eyes in many ways.
