why do i need the number

Wednesday, July 29, 2015

I am still trying to decide if I should get on the scale tomorrow or wait.
I go back to the doctor on Monday and if I get on the scale tomorrow and get a bad result, I am going to obsess over it all weekend.
on the other hand, I know I will get on the scale Monday morning before I go to the doctor.
I just want to stay on course, I have been doing fair the last week and have been watching my calories going in and trying to get in more burn.
I feel like I am beginning to lose, and as I blogged about once before, there are just certain places on the body that you notice more.
For me its in my butt.
I can feel it when I walk.
And I feel like I am beginning to notice some loss in my sides.
More definition.
I hope.

I didnt walk this morning, excuse?? Migraine headache upon waking and tired, sore, aching all over.
I have GOT to go mattress shopping this week.
So, I had coffee, stayed inside all day and out of the extreme heat.
Thought about going later in the evening, but even now at 8pm, it is still 85 degrees and heat index is more like 92.
So, I have hydrated all day, water water and more water.
I did some cardio in the form of some aerobic dance and then I did some strength workout.
Squats and overhead pulls, etc.
I really want to start adding more strength, especially upper body.
I need to keep a routine going for the winter, so I can keep doing it and stay in shape and away from all those comfort foods I navigated to last winter.
Overall, despite missing my morning walk, it has been a good day.
I am still undecided if I should get on that scale tomorrow.

Resistance bands are great - I used them for a long time before they finally wore out and started break. They are excellent for strength training.

Please don't let the number on the scale be the only determining factor! When I first started losing, the thing I noticed even if the scale wasn't moving was that I didn't jiggle as much when I moved. And clothes were looser. And I didn't get as out of breath during exercise. I wasn't lighter, but I was still slimmer! Eventually, the scale caught up with me, and the weight started coming off.

I've been "steady as she goes" for 3 months now. I've lost a couple more pounds, but I have gained quite a bit more muscle as those troublesome bits of fat start to shrink. Even in maintenance mode, I still feel changes in my body. It's a VERY GOOD thing!

You're doing great! Keep up the good work!

If you don't have a couple of resistance bands, make the investment. They're relatively inexpensive, and you can get a great upper body workout.
