Take Time to Breathe

Monday, August 03, 2015

Breathing is automatic. You don't really think about doing it, it just happens. I didn't really value it until these past ten days when my breathing became kabored. I came down with a viral infection which went right to my chest. A week went by and instead of getting better I got worse. What was once an automatic response became a labored effort. I was diagnosed with bronchitis, asthma and the beginnings of pneumonia. No wonder I was having a hard time breathing. I was told that I probably would be dealing with asthma the rest of my life. Now something I took for granted has become something that I think about continually. I will be on an inhaler the rest of my life. This has made me realize how important my health is. Why I will get my weight off. I set a goal to exercise for 10 minutes 3 times a day until my breathing allows me to do more. So my friends take a deep breath and enjoy life.

I hope you're on the mend. Scary Stuff. I like your 10 minutes of exercise goal. Take care of yourself.
At the end of most exercise DVDs, they recommend a deep breath and stretching towards the ceiling. I will think of you when doing this cool-down.

Oh, I so understand that, Marly! I had a viral type of pneumonia the last time I was in Maine (about 2 years ago). My breathing got so bad I could barely walk across the room (no joke). I was hospitalized for a week because they couldn't figure out what type of virus I had. Long story short - please stay on top of it!!! It took me months to recover fully!

    HUGS, my friend!
