Beau, the carsick Pooch!

Monday, August 17, 2015

It was a Grand Daughter's Birthday yesterday----
We all gathered to wish her a Happy Birthday----These children are from 3 families---
..the famous cake-----

and the youngest Grand child---
To-day himself and I are taking a German(as in dog)- to the groomer-
He needs his nails trimmed---
Himself will sit in the back seat and hold him--Beau will probably vomit all over him
Beau does not like travelling in the car---
So, I shall try to be nice ----try to be happy with Himself---
After all, its not every day-one gets to have yer himself hold a car sick puppy----
Spark on Sparkly people---Eventually it will pay off!

Beau

Looks like a lovely day with family. Beautiful grandkids. Gorgeous dog. You can try practicing with Beau by putting him in car, give him a few treats, then back in house. Do this at least 10 times, then put him in the car, crank engine, give him treats, & go back in the house. If you break it up into baby steps like this, he'll learn car rides= treats= no anxiety and the carsickness will likely resolve faster. Especially if he gets to ride in the car to more "fun" places than "scary" places like the groomer and vet.

emoticon So glad that you got to enjoy those Grand babies and the Party!! Sending an Extra Hug for Himself. Does the Vet have any suggestions for the vomiting? It seems totally miserable for Both Himself & Beau!!

I so enjoy the glimpses into your family celebrations, Lynda. Your Grandblessings are so very precious! Y'all are extremely blessed to have so many of them living nearby. All five of ours live half a country away; thankfully our daughter makes sure that we are a part of all the happenings in their lives in unique & wonderful ways. Still, it is not like being right there to enjoy them on a daily basis.

I hope that both your Himself & little Beau did better than anticipated during the car rides to & from the groomers. Our "Little Gal" has been enduring trips to the vet (eye infection due to scratching her eye or foreign matter getting into it somehow). We cannot figure out how it happened. She is generally with one of us pretty much 24/7. Outdoors she is always on the leash, even when she is in our completely fenced-in "back forty". She is definitely stressed while in the car, as she shakes & pants. Thankfully there has been no reaction beyond that. She has only been with us for three weeks now, so all this with her eye tends to feel like a "trial-by-fire" introduction into pet guardianship. It is interesting how her personality is revealing itself bit by bit, the more she gets comfortable with us (her new forever people) & her forever home. We are finding her to be such a delightful little creature & already it is difficult for us to imagine a time without her sweet little self being part of our life here on planet Earth.

Our daughter's two-year-old German Shepherd absolutely enjoys car rides. We were told that he would go off with a stranger in the blink-of-an-eye - that all one would have to do is open their vehicle door & the little guy would run & happily jump right in. Interesting how different they can be from others of their kind (or even breed).

    God bless!

Poor Beau - Poor Himself. Maybe Beau will outgrow the carsickness one day. I had a shepherd mix many years ago with the same pattern. Good thing she outgrew it; it provides hope for Beau - and for Himself. Have a better day once you get through this little chore!

I am hoping Beau did not get car-sick this time. Remember, he wasn't quite as bad last time.

Such lovely pictures of your grandkids. Thanks for sharing. You have a beautiful family.

Poor Beau. Poor Himself. I would think Beau will eventually outgrow that. Just hopefully sooner than later. emoticon It used to take two of us to take Indy, our beloved departed Shepherd mix anywhere in the car. He would howl and jump back and forth and try to jump into the front seat and just keep barking. I am still missing him. Now we are contending with another hotspot for the mastiff. And he just had prednisone less than a month ago so doubtful the vet will put him on that again. It is just a small hot spot so hopefully with washing it with his $$$$$$ special soap and spraying it with his $$$$$$ special spray along with left over $$$$$ antibiotics it will heal up without another $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ trip to the vet's where they have to sedate him to shave the hot spot for healing.

These days dogs cost more than kids. No..wait...make that as much as kids, I forgot about all the college loans we are paying off and how could I ever forget that?? emoticon

Have a safe and uneventful (as in no vomiting) trip to the groomers!!

I have something to be thankful for...

    I am NOT.... your ***Himself***

I have seen a show on TV.. 'the Dog Whisperer' I wonder what he would come up with for a cure for Beau's carsickness problem.

I do feel sorry for the "PUP"...

Beautiful grandchildren Lynda, you must feel so happy to have them! The photo of the youngest shows a real sweetie!

Maybe Beau will get over the car sickness eventually? Hope so! Does Himself wear a rain poncho to keep the goo off Himself?? Might help.

I keep sparking, I know I'll get there one day!
