..the darn Egg McMuffin!

Saturday, August 22, 2015

Yesterday Himself went for a some sorta scan--
Daughter in law drove him to the Sault--3 hrs away--
I kept the home fires burning--which was kinda nice in a way-----to do as I pleased--when ever I felt like it----without someone giving me their opinion---
I missed him tho----

The day went well---'cept I bought an Egg McMuffin on my way home from a trip to the dog groomers--calories which weren't needed---
It tasted sooooo good!
You see, Himself, being Chinese, never goes out for breakfast---(Look around a McDonalds and yu will never see Chinese people eating there at that time of day!)
Lord love a Duck..... it was a ""Sneaky Egg McMuffin""----probably why it tasted so wonderful!
I tried to cut back at lunch-----and even dinner---but.....
Well, it's a good thing we are given a new day--to make things right--
To-day I SHALL eat under 1500 calories----

IIRC, an Egg McMuffin is about 300 calories. I managed to fit that into a 1900 calorie per day plan, but only once a week. That was 4 years ago, and I remember planning my Saturday eating around a weekly trip to McD's with my daughter. Haven't eaten at McD's in I don't know how long now.

Hope the scan was negative/normal. One Egg McMuffin as a one time rarity is only forbidden if you think it is. You are doing great!

An alternative to Egg Macmuffin is the egg white Delight..Same thing without yolk,, you can also ask for no butter on your muffin!
I think the Chinese people here are different. I see them almost every time I have breakfast at McD's.. We have a miniscule Asian population too..

You enjoyed something in your life and it provided nourishment. At least you did nto waste your money at a Tim Hortons.. or worse..

Hope DH's scan results are fine.

Had not thought about Egg McMuffins in quite a while -- used to have one several mornings a week on the way to wherever was on that day's list to be.

    Great rebound images.

    Have a healthy weekend.

I would consider that a "hang it all" meal & not look back, while being determined (just as you stated you are) to do my level best from that point. We do need to treat ourselves once in a while, Lynda.

All that said - it has been my experience since joining Sparkpeople, that when I have indulged in those old favorites, they simply don't taste as yummy as they once did. One example for this gal would be emoticon . Years & years ago, coke & black coffee were my daily drinks of choice. After arriving in "Sparkville" I chose to cut coke out; however, along the way, a very few times, I have allowed myself to fall for the temptation of having one & each time they did not satisfy as I had expected they would - as they had done for years previously. In your words, "Lord love a duck!" hear me saying that I believe that they changed the formula in the meantime, don't you know? emoticon

God bless your day in wonderful ways, Lynda!

An egg Mc Muffin (and only one) is not a big deal. Healthy protein and not that many calories. If you think "forbidden food" this will only fuel your cravings. You can have anything, but in moderation, this is the Spark philosophy. Leave the guilt behind and move on, LOL.

Hope that your himself's scan turns out good.

Egg McMuffin is not all that bad - a little high in fat and cholesterol, but once in while we all deserve a treat. If you never get to have a treat -what is the point.

    Have nice Saturday.

What is it about "forbidden food" that makes it call our name, that makes it taste so wonderful? Anyway, if it's a rare occurrance, no big deal. Hope your "Himself" had good results from the scan! emoticon

Enjoy the memory of the flavor - it's already digested, no point in ruining the experience with unnecessary guilt. It was only one item - and only once. Life is short to fret the small stuff. I'm more concerned about Himself and hope he is OK, whatever it was he was checking on. Have a great weekend!

One of my fave past male friends was (probably still is - smiling) Chinese. However, the friendship had no chance to progress due to his parents being firm about his having to have a Chinese partner in life. And there was no way he was going to displease his parents. Oh well.

Hope everything is ok with your DH. Egg McMuffins are fine every once in a while. To think of it, the few times I have been out to McDonald's for breakfast I haven't seen anyone that was Chinese, lol.
