I am a Baby Boomer. When I was 29 years old, I taught a Health Careers Class. It was a vocational course, but was taught to High School Seniors. The class itself was taught at a local Nursing Home and students were bussed there from five different High Schools. I remember standing in front of my first class of the School Year and giving them all of the important information about the course, the certificates available if the work was done correctly, the teachers involved, etc. I also remember ending the talk with the fact that if they chose to go into the Health Area for a future career, they would NEVER be out of a job. Then I told them about Baby Boomers and about just how many of us there are. I couldn't begin to imagine at that time, how true this would be. It is so evident when my DH and I go to our local clinic or hospital, to the grocery store, to the malls, out to eat, etc. WE ARE EVERYWHERE!!!!!..............a
nd in massive numbers.
Last night, after our Pontoon ride we went to a little restaurant near the harbor where we keep our boat. There wasn't a customer in the place under the age of 60!!!!! Then I began to watch what they were ordering...........the majority were very conscious of what they were eating and how healthy it was for them. Several were in very good shape and I over-heard conversations about walking and golfing and tennis and travel. This is a group that seems to really care about the quality of life after 60. It was very refreshing!!!!!
for making me even more aware of what I can do to make my GOLDEN YEARS even better.
