September 8, 2015 BE SINCERE
There are many people in the world who are not sincere. We can tell by their actions if they really mean what they say. When people are not sincere, it is hard to take them seriously because they appear fake to us. If we want to be sincere people and come across to others as people who really care, we need to first seek God. He can change our hearts so we show that we sincerely care and we speak the truth to others about how we really feel. When we aren’t sincere, we are lying to others and lying to ourselves.
1 Peter 1:22 “You were cleansed from your sins when you obeyed the truth, so now you must show sincere love to each other as brothers and sisters. Love each other deeply with all your heart.” (NLT)
1 Peter 1:22 “Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:” (KJV)
Dear Lord, thank You for giving us Your word when You know we need it. Thank You for being honest with us and sincere in Your true word. Your timing is perfect and right. Always. Help us to be sincere and honest with others so we can help our relationships grow. Help us to resist temptations to be selfish and hide our feelings. We want to show sincerity and truth to others. Work through us to do this, we pray. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
We should be sincere and truthful to all showing them we care.
When we hide our feelings from others we are hurting our relationships with them.
It’s best to be honest and tell others how we feel so we can grow in truth and love in our relationships.
Being sincere doesn’t mean we have to hurt people’s feelings. It means we are honest because we want to help them.
We must go to God in truth and speak sincerely to Him.
Psalm 15:1b-2 “Who may enter your presence on your holy hill? Those who lead blameless lives and do what is right, speaking the truth from sincere hearts.” (NLT)
Focus: Insincerity only hurts relationships and causes distance and dissention.
