September 18, 2015 IMITATE GOD
Babies come into this world knowing very little about life. They are directed by us and shaped by our words and actions. If we want them to know something, we have to teach it to them. If we don’t teach them what we want them to know, they will soon learn from the ways of the world. That is why we should help children know God’s truths. They should hear His truths in our words and see them in our actions. We should imitate God so they can see Him in us. We are sometimes the only ones who can make a difference in their lives.
2 John 1:4 “How happy I was to meet some of your children and find them living according to the truth, just as the Father commanded.” (NLT)
2 John 1:4 “I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.” (KJV)
Dear Lord, children are precious gifts from You. We know You have a special place for them in Your heart. Help us and remind us daily to live in obedience to You so we can show our children how to do the same. We want them to know You and know Your truths. We want them to have a strong relationship with You and find their purpose You have created for them. Give us the courage, the strength and the desire to imitate You, Lord, because You command us to and because we should be devoted to You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
We should imitate God in all we do because we love Him and we want to be obedient to Him.
If we want our children to know God, we have to imitate Him and obey Him as His children.
Ephesians 5:1 “Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children.” (NLT)
If we don’t teach the word of God to our children, who will?
Children should see Jesus in us; in our words and in our actions.
Proverbs 22:6 "Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it.” (NLT)
Focus: We should help a child know more about God’s truth in our words and in our actions.
