A new day

I was feeling a little apprehensive yesterday about whether or not I would be ready for a 4 mile run on Thanksgiving. I did the math and assuming I am able to complete a 5k on schedule by next Friday. I will only have to increase my running distance by 0.2 miles every week. If it takes me an extra week to be able to run a 5k without stopping, I will have to increase my running distance by 0.3 miles per week to be ready. That’s still doable. Even if it takes me 2 extra weeks that’s only a 0.4 mile increase every week. That’ll be rough, but not impossible. Ahhhh… numbers make me feel better. That gives me plenty of wiggle room to be able to catch up to a 4 mile run by Turkey Trot day.

I also had a good day at the gym yesterday. I completed Week 7 Day 2 of my 8 week C25K program. I managed to run all the free form runs as well as straight through the run/skip drills. Basically my workout yesterday was

- 10 min walk
- 17 min run
- 3 min walk/stretch
- 5 min run
- 3 min walk/stretch
- 5 min run

I’m feeling better about my abilities. I'm now confident I’ll be able to complete my first two runs next week. Fingers crossed that I can run three whole miles in just over a week! I'll be close, but I'm still not 100% sure I can pull it off.
