"Ealth and sfety go out the window and it works

Monday, October 19, 2015

Yesterday was my last car show on this year. This one takes place on the same day every year in a village called Ofham. Ofham is about 6 or 7 mile outside the county town of Maidstone in Kent.

This show has has no organisers, no marshals, just everyone not being selfish. Guess what it works. No trouble and everyone getting along. It must be a Health and Safety mans nightmare.

The show last from 0900 well into late afternoon with the local put putting on a all day BBQ, selling drink all day and making a good living.

Here are some of my picture.

The first to arrive

All on the village green

On the road as well

Both sides

Steam engines

I had a long interesting chat with the driver

Maybe the oldest car there

That is it for another year.

Totally worn out but had a very good day

I had two Scimitars in the past - fabulous! Very heavy cars, wonderful throaty engines, I loved them. A bit temperamental with the electrics as the earthing straps used to play up, but I still am enthralled by Scimitars.

Also, I used to own the oldest running Renault4 in the UK - my parents got it when they were stationed in Cyprus in 1965, when we were living in Famagusta, it was one of the original 3-gear, 6-volt engine babies. I used to drive it to work in the '80's when I was in the WRAF and I even went to my wedding at the church in it, with my 4 Old English Sheepdogs who came too, in 1990! Later, I sold it to a couple of guys who refurbished it to concourse standard and I understand it even went to some Renault event in Paris.

They don't build 'em like they used to!
