Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes!

Sunday, November 08, 2015

I've reached my first weight goal! As of Wednesday, November 4th I am 275 lbs. That means I have another photo to do. I'll try to get that sometime this week.

Next up, I need to reach 250 lbs. I am aiming to hit that goal by February 1st. That will be slightly over 2 lbs a week. It'll be a push, but I'm determined. I think having that goal will also inspire me to behave during the holidays. I'm not sure how I'm going to tackle that. My family holiday dinners aren't very healthy. Christmas is usually a honey baked ham, cheesy potatoes, and cookies. I've considered extending my vegetarian trial (or even becoming vegan) for the week to avoid eating all the unhealthy stuff. At the very least, I'll bring a dish of veggies and hummus and some roast veggies as a side for me to eat.

I've found that for me having a fitness goal is way more effective than having a weight goal. I stopped caring what people think of me a long time ago. There are so many people that look past my weight and love me for who I am that my size just isn't a driver. I know I need to lose weight for my health, but I'm actually pretty healthy for my size. I have more endurance than a lot of thin people I know, my blood pressure is perfect, so is my cholesterol. I know that won't always be the case if I stay on this path, so I need to nip it in the bud now. In order to do that, I focus on fitness.

The Couch to 5k, then training for a 4 mile race got me to 275 lb. I need to work on fitness goals to get me down another 25 lbs. I'm still finishing up the 4 mile training but that will be reached in a couple of weeks. I do want to work on my speed, so I may start turning on the zombie chases on my app. I have also found a number of fitness challenges at 30dayfitnesschallenges.c

How cool would it be to be able to do 250 squats?! I bet I'd run faster. I'm definitely doing the ab and squat one. I plan to do one in December and one in January.

Oh! I got a new job! I really love my current job, but an even better offer came along. I get a raise and a promotion! I'll be traveling even more with this job, but I'm okay with that. My first assignment is a year in Maryland on the Delmarva Peninsula. I'll be just off the Chesapeake and about an hour from both Philadelphia and Baltimore. I'm excited for the change of scenery. The small town mountain village thing is nice, but I'm over it.

Welcome in advance to the mid Atlantic! Do treat yourself to some Maryland crabs before going completely vegetarian emoticon

I agree - focus on fitness and finding challenges is a great way to stay motivated. Keep up the great work!

Congrats! This post and your attitude are both really inspiring! I know how you feel about the holiday food problems. I went vegan 1.5 years ago and while I still cheat sometimes, it has made it so much easier to resist holiday indulgence.
