A brand New Year with 365 days still in front of us .... it is a leap year after all! I've got lots of great adventures planned so want to make the most of it. I weighed this morning at 144.4... about what I expected. What I didn't expect was that I'm actually up 8.2 pounds for the year... not the 6-7 I had figured. I obviously was thinking my starting weight was 138 and it actually was 136.2. Bummer... however it is what it is and we move forward. I did see the upward trend reversed in December as I was down a pound from month end Nov.

I'm still feeling thrilled that my pre-planned eating and drinking for last night's party actually worked. It was a dress-up masquerade party and the food table was really awesome. I didn't pick up a plate and only had a couple of appetizers. Hooray! Here is a picture my DH took before we left. Sorry about the photo orientation. Hope you don't wrench your necks!



I also had a good day today fitness and nutrition wise so I'm off to a good start. I'm not sure if I mentioned in yesterdays blog that my Fitbit showed I logged in just over 7 million steps last year. I'm going to try and exceed that this year but it will be tough. I'm not working as much (working food service at a busy restaurant accounted for a lot of steps) and when I calculated out the daily average it was almost 20,000 daily. Right now I'm lucky to get in 18,000 so I'll have to "step it up".

My mantra this year is "Strong and Lean in 2016". I want to repeat and remind myself of that daily. I put together a strength training worksheet a few years ago when I was the TNT (tone and tighten) Coach for a Biggest Loser Spark Team. I will print that off again and work on lifting heavier. I had some items on my list that I wanted to get done today. Top priority was getting the Christmas tree and other Christmas decor down.

Tomorrow I'll get the decorations back in the attic and organized. I also need to put the folding chairs and a few other items there so they are out of the way.

I wasn't sure if I would make it to Spin class at the gym this morning.. but I did! I was up at my regular time even though I didn't get to bed until after midnight. I am going to try and get to bed early tonight. I also had a 4 mile run on the schedule today. It was sunny but cold so I waited to do my run until after lunch. First run of the year done!
