Avoiding Impulse Buys (of the Caloric variety)

Tracking. It's crucial.
Tracking is such an amazing tool. As important as the strategy of daily weigh-ins helping me set my intention each morning, tracking help keep me honest with myself at night (well, all day...but particularly at night when I am tired and facing my triggers).
During my struggles of the past few months, I tracked very regularly - but ONLY during the day, on weekdays. I slacked off at night and on weekends, just the times I need it most! I made excuses and neglected reality.
For me, it is the same as trying to keep a running total in my head of what I have in the checking account. Sure, some people make that work....but I tend to lose track if it is not written down. One day, I know I will be able to fuel my body appropriately without writing down every bite, but clearly that is not a skill that comes to me naturally...I have to TRAIN myself. I have to stay AHEAD of the totals (just like the checking account).
Knowing what I've got in the bank helps keep me safer from my urge to "impulse buy," whether that "purchase" be a monetary or caloric!
